Update: Well Drilling Enters Phase 4

The Samburu Project’s hydrogeological expert Joseph Kariuki has recently completed a survey of potential well-drilling sites in the Samburu region of Kenya. Seven viable sites in Wamba were identified and the drilling team was set to begin drilling the first week in March. Due to heavy rains in the Samburu region drilling was delayed until the second week of March. Once drilling commences, the wells are expected to be completed within 15-20 days.

An additional drilling site was also located at the SHERP orphanage in Maralal, Kenya. The previous well was hand dug and inefficient. The new well will offer a clean water source for drinking, but also a surplus of water that can be used for agricultural purposes.
