Project Partners

M. Night Shyamalan Foundation

After a trip to Samburu, Kenya in August of 2009, the M. Night Shyamalan Foundation partnered with the Samburu Project to further develop the Milimani Women’s Group’s Agricultural Initiative. Thanks to the MNS Foundation’s generous donation, The Samburu Project was able to provide Milimani with a submersible pump and generator to enhance the well and drip irrigation system utilized by the farmers. Locals believe that the addition of the pump and the generator has increased the yield of the Milimani well to the point where it would be able to supply water for all of Wamba. Because of the enormous success of the Milimani Women’s Group’s Agricultural Initiative, more women’s groups are forming in Milimani in hopes that they too can launch agricultural initiatives.

The support given to the Milimani Women’s Group’s Agricultural Initiative is an impressive example of the M. Night Shyamalan Foundation’s work offering opportunities to marginalized populations and supporting programs which aim to alleviate poverty and social injustice.

OneKid OneWorld

The mission of OneKid OneWorld is simple: to make a difference in the lives of children in need around the globe: One world, one school, one kid, at a time. They are an education and sports based grassroots organization partnering U.S high school students with rural schools and kids in refugee camps in war torn and poverty stricken areas of the world. One soccer ball and one notebook can have a profound affect on the lives of kids who have nothing.

Their new MAIN PROJECT for 2008 was the LOLKUNIYANI PRIMARY SCHOOL in the Samburu Region of northern Kenya.  The school was reconstructed with the help of The Samburu Project. In a place where most kids DON’T FINISH THE 4TH GRADE, primary school education is the key. This school attracts students from almost twenty (20) km away. There are more than a hundred other kids who would like to attend the school but there is simply not enough room and no one to teach them.

Blue Planet Network

Blue Planet Network is a group of passionate people, working with a global network of experienced water groups, to bring sustainable safe drinking water to people in rural communities around the world. Their goal is to enable safe drinking water for 200,000,000 people in the next 20 years. For greater potential and global effectiveness, Blue Planet Network created an online Network to connect experienced water project implementers, committed local community members, expert water authorities, advocates, philanthropies, businesses, and the public.

The Blue Planet Network’s Peer Water Exchange (PWX) is an innovative platform that deals with the massive challenge of scale in the water and sanitation sector, i.e. how can you effectively find, review, select, fund, manage and monitor the hundreds of thousands of projects necessary to eradicate the safe drinking water crisis? This gives funders, be they foundations, companies or individuals, stronger investment opportunities and the chance to see the real impact of their support.

Drop by Drop Photo

Drop by Drop Photo is a collaborative project lead by Sausalito based photographer Rudi Dundas and Oakland based photographer Chris Majors. Together they endeavor to showcase the work of NGOs, Nonprofits, and Individuals who are effectively implementing solutions to resolve the issues of availability, distribution, and conservation of global freshwater resources.

Rudi Dundas and Chris Majors showcase the stories of the life-transforming change that sustainable safe drinking water brings to everyone it touches. They seek to inspire new ideas and catalyze action among those concerned with drinking water solutions worldwide. They will give visual voice to the stories of hardship endured by those without access to safe/clean drinking water and bring to light the powerful work of the people on the front line working to create a better life for those in need.
