An Initiative of The Samburu Project
Billions of people around the world are in need of clean drinking water – this is a reality for the people of Samburu, Kenya. THIRST is an initiative that connects people who have a desire to serve with those in need through an adventure of immersion, education, sustainability and collaboration.
We are always blown away by the amount of requests we get to help with our projects on the ground in Kenya. THIRST is a response to your passion and desire to participate in a global culture of grassroots activism and community. The aim of THIRST is to allow people who are engaged by what we do to be involved in an exchange of ideas, inspiration and support surrounding further community development in Samburu, Kenya.
THIRST participants will have the opportunity to live among the Samburu people, develop new community projects, work with community womens groups to develop income-generating businesses, engage with local youth on community issues and in schools and also focus on new community projects. THIRST is a unique opportunity for participants. Our goal is to design a program that has an emphasis on cultural exchange, to provide an opportunity to give back and also learn something new at the same time. We believe that it is very important to allow individuals to practice their strengths in order for the community to thrive as a whole. We believe in participants taking an active part in molding their own field experience and that they will gain the most out of the program when they are engaged in subjects for which they are passionate. Because of this belief, participants will have the unique opportunity to design areas of their own program depending on issues that interest them.
