The Samburu Project has partnered with Moondance Travel in Los Angeles and Travel Affairs in Nairobi to design a once in a lifetime travel adventure that includes spending time with the TSP team on the ground. Travel packages to Kenya commencing late October/early November 2016 will introduce supporters to the work of TSP and the beautiful area of Samburu, Kenya. Travel package can be tailored and modified for any budget and any number of travelers.
LUXURY SAFARI PACKAGE - 11 nights/12 days
Nairobi and by air to Mount Kenya, OI Pejeta, Samburu, Masai Mara and Lamu
Day 1: ARRIVE - Nairobi
Arrival to JKI airport and transfer to Giraffe Manor.
Dinner and overnight stay at Giraffe Manor.
Day 2: Nairobi Excursion
Breakfast at Giraffe Manor. Visit Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, Karen Blixen Museum, Kazuri Bead Factory.
Overnight stay at Giraffe Manor (lunch and dinner included).
Day 3: Mount Kenya Area
Transfer/flight to Nanyuki (via AirKenya, Wilson Airport) - pick up by Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club for lunch and/or golf at the Lodge.
Dinner and overnight stay Mount Kenya Safari Club.
Day 4: Mount Kenya Area + OI Pejeta Conservancy
Game drive in OI Pejeta Conservancy to see tamed rhinos, chimps and other game (lunch included). Dinner and overnight stay at Fairmount Mt. Kenya Safari Club.
Day 5: Samburu Game Reserve
Breakfast at Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club. Transfer to Nanyuki/charter flight to Samburu airstrip. Pick up by Saruni Samburu Lodge. Game drive en route to Lodge through Kalama Conservancy. Lunch, late afternoon game drive to view northern rare species including Reticulated Giraffe (aka Somali Giraffe), Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk and more.
Dinner and overnight stay at Saruni Samburu Lodge located inside Kalama Conservancy. (One complimentary massage per cottage.)
Day 6: Day with The Samburu Project
Visitors will spend a full day with TSP’s team on the ground in Samburu, Project manager Lucas Lekwali and Field Manager, Eric Lekulii (former bronze level travel guide in Kenya). Travelers will be picked up after breakfast to visit TSP Samburu villages, Sere Olipi Primary School, Health Clinic and well communities in and around Archer's Post. Bush lunch at the well community will be arranged by TSP during which time you will be serenaded with traditional songs of thanks and tribal dancing and invited into the community manyatta and access to take photographs.
Breakfast, dinner and overnight stay at Saruni Samburu Lodge.
Day 7: Masai Mara Game Reserve
After early morning breakfast, transfer to Samburu airstrip for scheduled flight to Mara. Arrival at Masai Mara airstrip, pick up/transfer to II Moran Camp for lunch.
Dinner and overnight stay at II Moran Camp (included are house wines, beers, soft drinks and laundry).
Day 8: Masai Mara Game Reserve
Morning and afternoon game drives. Hot air balloon safari available for additional cost.
Meals and overnight stay at II Moran Camp.
Day 9: Lamu
Early morning game drive followed by breakfast at Camp. Transfer to airstrip for flight to Nairobi (Wilson Airport). Connection to Air Kenya for flight to Lamu with boat transfer to Manda Bay.
Dinner and overnight stay at Manda Bay (accommodations in beach front rooms, beverages and laundry service included).
Day 10 + 11: Lamu
Leisure days at Manda Bay. Activities include sundowner cruises on dhow kayak, bush dinners, windsurfing, snorkeling and sailing.
Dinner and overnight at Manda Bay, (soft drinks, beer, house wines and laundry included).
Day 12: DEPART
Breakfast at hotel. Mid-morning leisure. Lunch at Manda Bay. Boat transfer to Lamu airstrip for Air Kenya flight to Nairobi (Wilson Airport). Arrival time will accommodate time necessary for international connection flights (most international flights depart in evening).
DETAILS: Packages range from $4,600 to $8,800 (per person for 2 person stay) and does not include international flights. Single travel supplements will apply. Please be advised rates may fluctuate based on numbers of travelers and travel dates in October or November 2016 and/or trips in 2017.
5% of total trip cost will be donated to support The Samburu Project's mission to provide access to clean water in Samburu.
All flights within Kenya will be provided by The Samburu Project's airline sponsor, AirKenya "the best way to fly."
