If you've ever dreamed of going to Africa, if you want to spend time with indigenous people who living according to tribal customs hundreds of years old, if you want to see elephants, leopards and giraffes in their beautiful natural habitat, TSP is waiting to host you in Samburu. The Samburu Project has partnered with Travel Affairs in Nairobi to design a once in a lifetime travel adventure that includes spending time with Project Manager, Eric Lekolii (former safari guide and Samburu naturalist) and the TSP team on the ground providing unparalleled access to Samburu community and the wildlife they with whom they live. Travel packages to Kenya will introduce supporters to the work of TSP by visiting our well communities, schools, health clinics and agricultural projects as time permits with intermittent game drives through the magnificent Samburu National Park.  

 

LUXURY SAFARI PACKAGE - 11 nights/12 days
Nairobi and by air to Mount Kenya, OI Pejeta, Samburu, Masai Mara and Lamu

Day 1: ARRIVE - Nairobi
Arrival to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfer to the luxurious Hemingways Hotel that boasts 45 suits all with pool views from the veranda.
Dinner and overnight stay at Hemingway's.

Day 2: Nairobi Excursion
Private driver will take you to visit Giraffe Center, Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, Karen Blixen Museum (Out of Africa House), the Kazuri Bead Factory and other local sites or shopping destinations in Nairobi.
Overnight stay at Hemingway's.

Day 3: Mount Kenya Area
Transfer/flight to Nanyuki (via AirKenya, Wilson Airport) - pick up by Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club arrive in time for lunch.  Known for their outstanding cuisine and magnificent views of majestic Mount Kenya, Mt Kenya Safari Club is a luxuriously appointed resort set in over 100 acres of landscaped gardens.  Originally the retreat of movie star and Club founder, William Holden, the Club's illustrious former members have included Winston Churchill, John Wayne and Bing Crosby.  Afternoon free for golf, a visit to the animal orphanage or time spent lost in their maze.    
Dinner and overnight stay Mount Kenya Safari Club.

Day 4: Mount Kenya Area + OI Pejeta Conservancy
Game drive in OI Pejeta Conservancy to see tamed rhinos, chimps and other game (lunch included). Dinner and overnight stay at Fairmount Mt. Kenya Safari Club.

Day 5: Samburu Game Reserve
Breakfast at Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club.  Transfer to Nanyuki/charter flight to Samburu airstrip. Welcome to Samburu by TSP staff and transfer to Saruni Samburu Lodge.  Game drive en route to Lodge through Kalama Conservancy.  Lunch, late afternoon game drive to view northern rare wildlife.

er and overnight stay at Saruni Samburu Lodge located inside Kalama Conservancy. (One complimentary massage per cottage.)  

Day 6: Day with The Samburu Project    
Visitors will spend a full day with TSP’s team on the ground in Samburu, where Project Manager, Eric Lekulii (former bronze level safari guide) will treat visitors to unique access to Samburu villages along with game drives in the Samburu National Park.  Bush lunch at a well community will be arranged by TSP during which time you will be serenaded with traditional songs of thanks and tribal dancing and invited into the community manyatta and access to take photographs. You will have unparalleled access into the ancient culture of the Samburu.

Game drives through the Samburu National Park will provide up-close and personal experiences viewing the Samburu Special Five: Reticulated Giraffe, Oryx, Gerenuk, Ostrich and the endangered Grevys Zebra, in addition to Lions, Elephants, Dik-Dik and some of the most beautiful birds on the African continent. 

Breakfast, dinner and overnight stay at Saruni Samburu Lodge.  

Additional Days can be spent in Samburu where visitors can indulge in a number of once-in-a lifetime experiences;

-Camel trekking into the Northern Frontier with local Samburu herdsmen. 

-Climbing of Mount Ololokwe along elephant migratory paths or summit the top by helicopter where a lunch atop the mountain awaits along with a breath-taking view of Matthew's Range and the Laikipia Plateau. 

Day 7: Masai Mara Game Reserve
After early morning breakfast, transfer to Samburu airstrip for scheduled flight to Mara.  Arrival at Masai Mara airstrip, pick up/transfer to one of several camps operated by Governors' Camps. 
Lunch, dinner and overnight stay at Governors' Camp (included are house wines, beers, soft drinks and laundry).

Day 8: Masai Mara Game Reserve
Morning and afternoon game drives.  Hot air balloon safari and bush breakfast are available
Meals and overnight stay at Governors' Camp.

Day 9: Lamu
Early morning game drive followed by breakfast at Camp.  Transfer to airstrip for flight to Nairobi (Wilson Airport).  Connection to Air Kenya for flight to Lamu with boat transfer to Peponi Hotel in Shela.  
Dinner and overnight stay in beachfront rooms at the iconic Peponi Hotel

Day 10 + 11: Lamu
Leisure days in Lamu.  Available activities include; massages, personal grooming services, sundowner dhow cruises, bush dinners, windsurfing, snorkeling, sailing, private tours to Unesco Lamu town or other historic Swahili sites.  
Dinner and overnight at Peponi Hotel.

Day 12: DEPART
Breakfast at hotel.  Mid-morning at leisure.  Boat transfer to Lamu airstrip for Air Kenya flight to Nairobi (Wilson Airport).  Arrival time will accommodate time necessary for international connection flights (most international flights depart in evening, half day rooms can be arranged for rest and refreshment prior to travel).
